Zoe Alameda (b. 2000) is a multidisciplinary artist sitting and scrolling in Los Angeles. Combining painting, collage, and sculpture, her practice explores material identity, image culture, and self-discovery. Alameda examines the challenges of connecting with oneself and others in a world saturated with digital images and commercial messaging, often influenced by the visual and cultural landscape of Los Angeles. Through imperfect layers of texture and flatness, Alameda uses materials like paint, Xerox prints, and found objects to reflect tensions within identity. The tactile qualities of these materials—sometimes raw, sometimes transformed—emphasize the interplay between vulnerability and strength, distraction and focus, authenticity and artificiality. Leaning on the tension between the real and the reproduced, it is often unclear whether the images in her work are painted or printed, whether they are her own or found, and how much she has manipulated them. In the search for the real self, Alameda’s practice embodies a longing for presentness and meaningful connection in today’s fragmented reality.

Alameda received her BFA at the University of Southern California in 2023 and attended the Yale Norfolk School of Art residency in 2022. She has exhibited across the United States, including recent group exhibitions at NADA New York with Swivel Gallery (Brooklyn, NY), Guerrero Gallery (Los Angeles, CA), and LVL 3 (Chicago, IL). In addition to her studio practice, Alameda has organized and curated multiple exhibitions with notable highlights at SADE Gallery (Los Angeles, CA) and Lonestar Studios (Los Angeles, CA).
